Founded in 1948, but with a century-long history, Efacec is the largest Group in the electric field financed by Portuguese capital. It employs over 3900 people and is present in more than 65 countries, in five continents. The Automation Business Unit and its R&D department has been involved in a number of research projects covering the control and management of power systems, from transmission and generation to distribution, including SCADADMSEMS systems, distribution automation, protections, energy storage systems, renewable integration and optimisation of power systems management. EFACEC is also involved in the INOVGRID project, the Smart Grids initiative launched in Portugal by EDP distribuicao (Portuguese DSO).
